How our transaction fees work
Our rate is one number with three parts, and we publish all three. Two of them are not ours to set.
What the 1.39% is made of
A €100 sale on a consumer debit card issued in the EEA, split the way it actually settles.
| Component | Goes to | Rate | On a €100 sale |
|---|---|---|---|
| Interchange (MIF) | The bank that issued the card | 0.2% | €0.20 |
| Scheme fee | Visa or Mastercard | 0.2% to 0.4% | €0.20 to €0.40 |
| Acquiring fee | Tapaya, whatever is left | 0.79% to 0.99% | €0.79 to €0.99 |
| The complete fee | Nothing else is added | 1.39% | €1.39 |

Figures are for a consumer debit card issued in the EEA, where interchange is capped by EU Regulation 2015/751. On a credit card the bank takes 0.3% and our share is smaller by the same amount; the complete fee stays 1.39%. Commercial cards and cards issued outside the EEA are not capped by that regulation and are priced separately.
Blended, or Interchange++
Blended is the right answer for most partners. Interchange++ starts to pay off above roughly €25,000 a month, or sooner if commercial cards are a large share of your mix.
Blended
One simple rate for every card.
Take this if you want a rate you can quote your merchants without a spreadsheet.
One rate, on every statement, exactly as broken down above. Nothing is added on top of it.
Interchange++ (MIF)
Cost-plus, fully itemised.
Take this above about €25,000 a month, or when commercial cards are a large part of your volume.
We quote you the acquiring fee only, the third line above. Interchange and scheme fees are billed at what the networks charge, itemised, so the rate we quote is never the full cost of the transaction.
Pricing, answered
No. There's no monthly fee, no setup fee, and no hardware to buy or rent, you pay a percentage of each transaction, starting from 1.39% blended.
Because the networks' own costs do. Interchange (MIF) and scheme fees are set by Visa and Mastercard, and cards issued outside the EEA cost more to accept than domestic ones. We split the three out instead of hiding the difference inside one average, so your statement holds no surprises.
